Extract “The City of Bandol has made other commitments, and I would like to take advantage of this official act of greeting here at the theater, to remind you that the municipal council unanimously took the decision in November, with the support of the leader of the opposition, Marc Bayle, whom I thank, to sponsor with the Libertas collective, like other Cities and institutions in France and around the world, the 23 Armenian prisoners that Azerbaijan is holding in unacceptable conditions despite the end of the conflict. This gesture is a continuation of the friendship pact signed between us and this small wine-growing town in Armenia in 2017, and is also a token of support for this region and this country, which has been mistreated for years, and for our Armenian friends whom we had the pleasure of welcoming during the wine festival last December (and, I hope, for you, tasting their wines).
Bandol is a pin on the map, but not out of the World, and we will continue, in our very small way, to show our solidarity with others, and first and foremost with those to whom we have chosen to link up, even if they are far away culturally and geographically.”
